Free “Hidden History Tour” this weekend in downtown Shreveport

Saturday, May 12 from 1-4 p.m. the Downtown Development Authority of Shreveport, Downtown Shreveport Unlimited, Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau, and Louisiana Bicentennial host a downtown trolley tour focusing on some of downtown’s most intriguing places and spaces.

The 'free' tour is scheduled to begin at the Municipal Auditorium, where Elvis once roamed the halls.

Goodwill Industries named finalist in Toyota's 2012 100 Cars for Good program

North Louisiana-based Goodwill Industries announces that it has been selected as one of 500 nonprofit finalists in Toyota's 100 Cars for Good program.

The automaker is giving 100 cars to 100 vehicles over the course of 100 days. Goodwill was selected as a finalist from more than 4,000 applications nationwide.

Each day, beginning May 14, 2012, 100 Cars for Good will profile five finalists at www.100carsforgood.com.

SFD use 'jaws of life' to free driver in Murphy St. rollover accident

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Shreveport Firefighters had to use the 'jaws of life' to free a driver injured in a rollover accident Monday afternoon.

The accident happened in the 1800 block of Murphy St. According to Shreveport Fire Battalion Chief, Rusty Thames, the driver of a white Toyota Camry pulled out in front of a Chevrolet Corvette. The Corvette, according to the fire department, got under the Camry and caused it to rollover.

Driver slightly injured after roll over accident on I-20

Traffic was slowed on I-20 westbound at Fairfield Avenue for a brief time late Friday morning after a two-vehicle accident. Police say the wreck happened between a Honda Accord and a Ford Explorer truck. Police are still trying to figure out how the accident happened and what caused the Explorer to roll over. The driver of the truck went to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
