Southfield School hosting Open House

Southfield School is hosting an Open House from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 12. The school is located at 1100 Southfield Road, just north of Pierremont Avenue between Southern Avenue and Fairfield Avenue. Southfield teaches students from Preschool 2 through 8th grade.

Volunteers help clean up Atkins Elem. during MLK Service Day

About 40 volunteers from around the community spent their day at Atkins Elementary for this year's MLK Service Day. This is the fourth year that Centenary College has held its Dream Week Celebration on MLK Day. Volunteers helped rake and clean up the front of the school, cleaned classrooms and lockers, and helped paint several murals that will eventually hang on the school's walls.

Krewe de les Femmes  Mystique,along with the LSU AgCenter and the Northwest Chapter of the Louisiana Restaurant Association, has extended the deadline for submission of recipes for the Healthy School Lunch Contest.

Burglars break in to shuttered Caddo Parish school

Shreveport Police and the Caddo Parish School Board are trying to determine what was stolen from a school that is closed for renovations.

Police got a call about the break in at the former J.S. Clark Middle School on Hearne Ave. Wednesday morning. A janitor discovered the break in.

Jacquie Hood Martin to speak at SUSLA Fall Commencement

Southern University at Shreveport will hold its 2011 Fall Commencement Program at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 10 in the Health and Physical Education Complex (Gymnasium).  Nearly 200 students will receive Associate diplomas and/or certificate degrees.

CTC hosting "Inspect a Career Day"

Career Technical College in Shreveport is hosting its "Inspect a Career Day" from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 5 at the college's campus, located at 1227 Shreveport Barksdale Hwy. There will be refreshments, campus tours, door prizes, financial aid and scholarship workshops, free blood pressure screenings and live demonstrations in the lab. BPCC hosting job fair on Oct. 28

Bossier Parish Community College will host its annual job fair from 12 - 3 p.m. on Friday, October 28 at its campus, located at 6220 E. Texas St. in Bossier City. The event will be in the Student Services Building.
