Mayor Glover announces the return of Summer Intern/Jobs program

Today, Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover will announce the return of the City’s summer jobs program for youths and young adults.

A news conference is scheduled for 10 a.m. in the Mayor’s conference room on the second floor of Government Plaza.

The highlight of the program this year is the return of summer interns. This internship is geared toward undergraduate and graduate students who will be placed in various City departments.

SPAR announces Spring camps

SPAR  announces Spring camps

Shreveport Public Assembly & Recreation (SPAR) will hold spring camps at each of its community centers for Caddo Parish School students out on Spring Break.

The camps are scheduled for 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.  the week of March 26th through March 30th.

Organizers say the Spring Camps will include games, movies, field trips, and other fun activities for youth ages 6 to 12 for the Youth Spring Camp and teens ages 12 – 17 for the Teen Spring Camp.

Space is limited and will be filled on a first come, first served basis.

Healthy Living/Health Fair event coming March 17

With March being National Nutrition Month, the Caddo Parish Child Nutrition Program and Shreveport Dietetics Association are hosting a health fair and nutrition information event. The theme is "Rising to the Challenge of a Healthier Lifestyle." The groups say the event is meant to show parents and their children healthier ways to live. The program is from 9:30 a.m - 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 17 in the Fellowship Hall of the Oakmont Church of God in Christ, located at 5925 W. 70th Street.
