Bringing more awareness to the tragedy of suicide is the goal of Bossier City's inaugural "Out of the Darkness Community Walk," which begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 29 at the Bossier Parish Community College, 6220 E. Texas St.

Domestic Abuse Resource Fair aims to teach public about abuse problems

Community members are invited to learn more about domestic abuse and local programs available to help victims during a resource fair to be held Oct. 11.

Volunteers of America’s Dress for Success Shreveport-Bossier is sponsoring the event, which will include a short film, panel discussion with experts and law enforcement and a fair with various resources.

Shreveport Public Assembly & Recreation (SPAR) Valencia Park Community Center will hold its annual National Night Out event on Tuesday, October 4  from
6:00 to 8:00 pm at the center located at 1800 Viking Drive. The event will feature music, games, food and refreshments. Admission is free to all. The general public, and families in particular, are encouraged to attend and celebrate the community. For more information call the Shalon E. Lewis, Center Manager at 318.673.6433.

Chris Hays Community Center to host domestic violence forum

SPAR will host a free domestic violence forum at the Chris Hays Community Center Thursday, September 29.

The forum will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the center located at 4300 Illinois Street.
