Junior League sponsoring 'Running for a Cause Fun Run & 5K | Community Spirit

The Junior League of Shreveport-Bossier is looking for folks to sign up for 'Running for a Cause Fun Run and 5K' which begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday, February 16 at Independence Stadium.

Registration is $25 before February 15, $30 the day of the race.

Let the good times roll as you traverse this unique course full of twists, turns & unexpected challenges! The finish line will be located inside Independence Stadium. A Mardi Gras carnival theme will resonate throughout this family-friendly event, from the course to the post race party. Enjoy a catered lunch after the race while the kids blow off some steam in the bounce house, clown around with our entertainment and get their faces painted!

Proceeds from the race will go to support the same causes of the Junior League Market: Shopping for a Cause.This year the causes are Super Safety Saturday at Sheriff’s Safety Town, teaching safety skills to second graders; Kids in the Kitchen, empowering children to make healthy lifestyle choices to reverse childhood obesity and poor nutrition; LSU Health Shreveport BINGO, offering a fun escape to hospitalized children; Domestic Violence Community Awareness with the Providence House; and Between the Lines, where members record incarcerated parents or deployed soldiers reading books and then send to their children in DVD format along with a new, gift-wrapped book.

The overall female and male winner of the 5k will receive trophies, and the winners of each age division will receive medals.
