Coin, Stamp and Card show at Bossier Civic Center

The Shreveport Coin Club is hosting a Stamp and Card expo the weekend of July 30 at the Bossier Civic Center.

The event will bring more than 65 dealers from across the country to the Civic Center creating a marketplace for area collectors to buy, sell, and trade coins, medals, tokens, currency, sports cards and stamps.

The event will be open to the public from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday July 30 and 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Shreveport Public Assembly and Recreation (SPAR) continues registration for its 2011 SPAR Youth Football League season. All area youth, ages 5 – 14, are encouraged
to participate in the 2011 SPAR Youth Football League. In particular, coaches are seeking player in 5 - 6 year old flag up to 12 – 14 year old tackle.

Team and player registration runs through Friday, August 19, 2011. The season begins on Saturday, September 10, 2011.

Arson the cause for morning Queensborough fire

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) – Investigators say arson is to blame for an early morning fire in the Queensborough neighborhood.

Fire crews got a call just after 2:00 a.m. Monday to the 2100 block of Darien Street. Crews arrived three minutes after the call, and found heavy smoke and flames coming from the windows and doors.

Louisiana State Exhibit Museum hosts triva game

The Louisiana State Exhibit Museum will host a trivia game Saturday, with a focus on Shreveport history.

Contestants are invited to participate in the upcoming “Shreveport Trivia Quiz” which will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 30 at the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum located at 3015 Greenwood Road in Shreveport.

Those who wish to participate in the event should regester an hour before the show. Radio talk show hosts, Tom Pace and Gary Calligas will emcee this quiz. Finalists will win some fabulous prizes.

Shreveport Little Theatre hosts auditions

The Shreveport Little Theatre Academy will hold auditions for The Laramie Project by Moises Kaufman in August.

The Laramie Project is a dramatic work about the reaction to the 1998 murder of a University of Wyoming student Matthew Shepard in Laramie, Wyoming.

SPAR’s Summer Midnight Basketball League championship games will take place Saturday, July 22.

The fifth annual Midnight League for girls and boys comes to an end Saturday at the Centenary Gold Dome in a sequence of championship games the first at 11:00 a.m. and the final at 12:30 p.m.

The first championship game begins at 11:00 a.m. with the Andrew Curry Lady Ballers vs. Shreveport Kings.

There will be a ceremony for the 12 yr. champions the G-Men Elite during half-time.

The final championship will begin at 12:30 with the Port City Stingers vs.
